Jawaharlal Nehru port in Mumbai has reopened today after three days. Dockers and political activists had been picketing and blocking roads to get the proper compensation for the land deal near the port.
India’s more than half container traffic is handled by this port. The road blockages and protests were ended after the government decision to settle the long delayed claims by 90 days.
A port official said, “We are making all possible efforts to clear the shipping backlog.”
